Salve Regina Sweeps Wentworth, 3-0

NEWPORT, R.I. - Senior Natalie Rubenoff (New Hartford, Conn.) tallied a match-high eight kills to lead the Salve Regina University volleyball team to its fourth-straight win, a 3-0 thumping of Wentworth Institute of Technology Tuesday night at Rodgers Recreation Center.

 

Freshman Megan Clancy (Chelmsford, Mass.) and senior Brittany Canaff (Paramus, N.J.) recorded 18 and 15 digs, respectively, for the Seahawks, who climbed to within three games of the .500 mark at 5-8 (3-0 TCCC). They captured game one 25-17, game two 25-14, and game three 25-13. Freshman Julie Rahilly (Nashua, N.H.) led the Leopards (3-9, 1-1 TCCC) with six kills and tied for the team lead with 10 digs.

 

The Seahawks captured the first game behind three kills and five assists from junior Lisa Zabel (Madison, Conn.) and four digs from Canaff. In game two, Rubenoff had four kills and sophomore Julianne Barry (Randolph, Mass.) chipped in with three, and in the final stanza, the Seahawk reserves took control of the match and polished off the win.

 

The Leopards finished with a hitting percentage of -.093. Senior Courtney Zink (East Falmouth, Mass.) recorded 13 assists while senior Julie Bruton (Montgomery, Texas) tied Rahilly with 10 digs for WIT.

 

The Seahawks return to action on Thursday when they host Wheaton (Mass.) at 7 p.m.
