Wentworth Drops Pair of TCCC Matches

NEW LONDON, N.H. – Wentworth's women's volleyball team dropped a pair of The Commonwealth Coast Conference matches by falling to Colby-Sawyer, 3-0, and falling short against Gordon, 3-2

 

In the loss to the Chargers (25-11, 25-20, 25-5) Colby-Sawyer junior Michelle Doody (Franklin, Mass.) had a match-high 13 kills and hit .345. Sophomore Kristin Sawyer (Walpole, Mass.) recorded six kills and hit .385. Senior Genny Moore (Centerville, Mass.) tallied a double-double with a match-high 28 assists and 12 digs. Sophomore Julie Bruton (Montgomery, Texas) and freshman Julie Rahilly (Nashua, N.H.) each had four kills to lead the Wentworth offense.

 

The Leopards took a 29-27 decision in the first set against Gordon before falling the second set, 25-17.  The third set saw the Leopards have their best hitting percentage of the match (.235) and win, 25-14.  Needing just one more win to take the match, the Leopards couldn't close it out in the fourth set, falling 25-12, and Gordon battled its way to a five-set win with a 16-14 win in the deciding set.  Rahilly had 11 kills and 28 digs, while Bruton had 10 kills and 19 digs.  Senior Courtney Zink (East Falmouth, Mass.) had 34 assists.
