Leopards Downed by Babson and Trinity

WALTHAM, Mass. – The Leopard women's volleyball team saw its two-match win streak come to a halt as Wentworth was defeated by both Babson and Trinity by identical, 3-0 scores in the first day of the 2009 Brandeis Invitational.

Wentworth's first match was against Babson and the Beavers came out of the gate by winning the first set by a 25-13 score before taking the second set, 25-9.  Wentworth could not recover from the 2-0 deficit and dropped the third set by a 25-13 score.  Sophomore Julie Bruton (Montgomery, Texas) had six kills and 10 digs, while senior Courtney Zink (East Falmouth, Mass.) had 10 assists.

The Leopards fought Trinity to the end of the first set before falling by a 25-23 margin, but that would be as close as the Leopards would get, falling 25-19 and 25-14, respectively, in the second and third sets.  Bruton and junior Jen Giudice (Central Valley, N.Y.) had six kills apiece, while freshman Julie Rahilly (Nashua, N.H.) had five kills and 18 digs.
