SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – Six members of the Wentworth Institute of Technology men's soccer team were honored by the Commonwealth Coast Conference as the league announced its all-conference teams and major award winners on Friday.

The Leopards placed three of their players on the first team in sophomore forward Noah Martins (Dartmouth, Mass.), junior midfielder Emmett Basaca (San Diego, Calif.), and junior defender Joe Kalil (Franklin, Mass.). Sophomore midfielder James Morrison (New South Wales, Australia) and junior defender Kenneth Callahan (Killingworth, Conn.) were named Second Team All-CCC, while junior forward Matt Cicalis (Bridgewater, Mass.) earned third team all-conference honors. Voting for all-conference honors and major awards was conducted by the league's 10 head coaches.

Coming off a rookie campaign which saw him record 24 points, Martins presently leads the CCC in both goals (13) and points (32) while he is tied for third in assists (six). Three of his 13 goals have been game-winning goals, including netting the game winner against the University of New England on Oct. 25. Twice (Sept. 6, Sept. 26) he was named the CCC Offensive Player of the Week and his 32 points are the fifth-highest in a single season in program history. In 39 career games he has 22 goals and 12 assists for 56 points, which ranks him fourth on the program's all-time scoring list.

For the second season in a row, Basaca earns a spot on the all-conference team as a first team selection. Defensively he has been a key reason why the Leopards had an unbeaten streak of 12 games (8-0-4) during the season and have outscored opponents 35-20 on the year. While taking the majority of the team's free kicks and corner kicks, he has helped to create numerous offensive opportunities for the Leopards and he also has three goals and six assists for a career-best 12 points on the season. He is tied for the team lead in both assists and points. Starting all 56 games in which he has played during his career, he has three goals and seven assists for 13 points.

Kalil earns an all-conference nod for the second time in his career as he was named Honorable Mention All-CCC during his freshman season. A mainstay on defense, he has helped Wentworth post five shutouts and on the offensive end he has four goals and an assist for nine points. Starting 53 of the 55 games in which he has played in his career, Kalil has 10 goals and a pair of assists for 22 points.

The 2015 CCC Rookie of the Year, Morrison was named second team all-conference after, offensively, scoring a pair of goals – both game winners including one in a 1-0 overtime win at Roger Williams – and adding an assist, and defensively, being a part of a strong midfield unit which has helped hold opponents to a goal a game. Morrison's ability to strike a deep ball has also helped to create numerous offensive opportunities for his teammates. In 32 career games he has five goals and four assists 14 points.

A Third Team All-CCC selection a season ago, Callahan has been a backbone for the Leopard defense all season, helping the Black & Gold yield a goal a game and post five shutouts. Wentworth has also only allowed more than one goal in a game five times. The CCC Defensive Player of the Week on Oct. 11, Callahan has also started all 53 games in which he has played in during his career and has been a key to Wentworth's recent success.

Cicalis is presently second on the team with five goals and is tied with Basaca for second in total points with 12. Two of his goals have been game winners, including when he scored 1:12 into the game in a 1-0 win over Nichols, and he had a goal and an assist in a 3-1 win over Gordon. That performance earned him CCC Offensive Player of the Week honors on Oct. 17. In 51 career games (37 starts), he has 10 goals and four assists for 24 points.

Wentworth finished the regular season with an 11-3-4 overall record and a 7-1-1 mark in CCC play, good for second place. The Leopards will host seventh-seeded Curry in a CCC quarterfinal on Saturday at Noon.
