Men's Tennis Wraps up Fall Portion of Its Schedule

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The Wentworth Institute of Technology men's tennis team wrapped up the fall portion of its schedule on Sunday morning, dropping an 8-1 decision to Albertus Magnus.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • Wentworth's lone point of the match came at No. 2 doubles when seniors Kevin Salomon (West Newton, Mass.) and Tyler Hall (Framingham, Mass.) picked up an 8-0 win over graduate student Nick Tagliaferri (Hamden, Conn.) and freshman Fernando Ruiz (Hartford, Conn.).
  • Albertus Magnus tied the match when senior Alessandro Proscino (Hamden, Conn.) and junior Rockenson Charles (New London, Conn.) were victorious, 8-5, over graduate student Harrison Maki (Hamden, Conn.) and junior Aidan Gordon (Douglas, Mass.) at No. 3. The Falcons took a 2-1 lead after doubles play when senior Zak Levine (Hamden, Conn.) teamed with senior Alex Hale (Wolcott, Conn.) to defeat sophomore Daniel Gallegos (Monterey, Mexico) and freshman Pranav Marwaha (Nashua, N.H.), 8-4, at No. 1.
  • The hosts swept all six singles matches. At No. 1, Levin defeated Hall, 6-1, 6-4, to take a 3-1 lead, while Tagliaferri defeated senior Sam Ferro (Whitman, Mass.), 6-2, 6-2 at No. 3. Charles clinched the match at No. 5 with a 6-0, 6-1 win over junior Denis Minevich (Natick, Mass.).
  • Proscino edged junior Owen Conlon (Cataumet, Mass.), 4-6, 6-3, 12-10, at No. 4, Ruiz was a 6-3, 6-1 winner over freshman Justin Whalen (Weymouth, Mass.), at No. 6, while Hale defeated Marwaha at No. 2, 6-1, 5-7, 10-7.
