Men's Tennis Doubled up at Rhode Island College

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Wentworth Institute of Technology men's tennis team picked up three singles wins in a non-conference loss at Rhode Island College. The Leopards were defeated by the Anchormen, 6-3.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • Rhode Island College started the match with a win at No. 2 doubles as sophomore Josh Brien (Johnston, R.I.) and sophomore Jack Cadden (Mattapoisett, Mass.) defeated freshman Pranav Marwaha (Nashua, N.H.) and graduate student Harrison Maki (Rutland, Mass.), 8-5. The Anchormen pushed their lead to 2-0 with an 8-4 win at No. 1 as senior Alex Bourque (North Smithfield, R.I.) and freshman Noah Morin (Smithfield, R.I.) topped senior Kevin Salomon (West Newton, Mass.) and sophomore Daniel Gallegos (Monterrey, Mexico), 8-4. Freshman Elijah Gouin (Glocester, R.I.) and freshman Zach Siemmao (Wakefield, R.I.) completed the doubles sweep with an 8-7 (7-3) win over junior Owen Conlon (Cataumet, Mass.) and senior Sam Ferro (Whitman, Mass.) at No. 3.
  • Gouin defeated Maki, 6-4, 6-2, at No. 4, giving the hosts a 4-0 lead before Cadden defeated junior Malo Legouin (Nanterre, France), 6-4, 6-4, at No. 5 to clinch the match.
  • Morin topped Marwaha, 6-4, 5-3, at No. 3, giving the Anchormen a 6-0 lead before the Leopards got on the board. At No. 6, Ferro defeated junior Dylan Tashdjian (Riverside, R.I.), 7-5, 7-5, while Gallegos bested Brien, 7-5, 6-3, at No. 2. Salomon wrapped up the match with a 7-6, 6-2 win over Bourque at No. 1.
