Men's Tennis Opens Spring Portion of its Schedule

WINCHESTER, Mass. – The Wentworth Institute of Technology men's tennis team opened the spring portion of its schedule on Tuesday afternoon with the Leopards (1-2) dropping a 7-0 decision to UMass Boston (1-1) in a match played at the Winchester Indoor Lawn Tennis Center.

No. 2 doubles saw graduate student Harrison Maki (Rutland, Mass.) team with freshman Pranav Marwaha (Nashua, N.H.) and were defeated by Beacon freshman Rudraksh Trivedi (Gujarat, India) and senior Alex Comerchero (Brookline, Mass.), 8-0. At No. 1 doubles, senior Kevin Salomon (West Newton, Mass.) and sophomore Daniel Gallegos (Monterrey, Mexico) were defeated by senior Nandish Shah (Ahmedabad, India) and senior Miguel Beltran (Ashland, Mass.), 8-3. The Leopards had a nailbiter at No. 3 doubles as junior Owen Conlon (Cataumet, Mass.) and junior Aidan Gordon (Douglas, Mass.) were edged by graduate student Jerome Rajan and junior Rez Yuspi (Somerville, Mass.).

Maki was defeated at No. 4 singles by Trivedi, 6-0, 6-0 and Gallegos fell to Shah, 6-1, 6-1, at No. 2. Yuspi defeated Conlon, 6-1, 6-2, at No. 5. Marwaha lost his match at No. 3, 1-6, 3-6, to Comerchero. Solomon was ahead of Beltran at No. 1, 7-6 (7-5), 5-5, when his match was called and Conlon was leading Rajan, 6-4, 1-3, when his match was called.

Wentworth will be at Rhode Island College on March 15.
