HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • While both teams had chances early, it was Wentworth which capitalized at the 31:57 mark when freshman Jaedon Costa (North Providence, R.I.) took a pass from senior Eddie Smith (San Luis Obispo, Calif.) and put home a one-timer to the left side, giving the hosts a 1-0 lead.
  • Soucy put home his first of the contest with just 1:17 left in the frame when he took a pass from senior Campbell Shealy (Lexington, S.C.) and scored after Wentworth's defense could not protect the back line.
  • Senior Kyle Monaghan (Monson, Mass.) put the Saints ahead, 2-1, when put home a shot from the top left corner of the box at the 66:38 mark.
  • Shortly after senior Robbie West (Hingham, Mass.) made a stop on a header bid from right in front, Wentworth got the equalizer. Senior TJ Prouty (Glendora, Calif.) found a seam and threaded a pass to Dauphin, who found senior Kaleb Gebremeskel (Georgetown, Texas) in the box. Gebremeskel slipped a shot past senior keeper Matthew LaMondia (East Longmeadow, Mass.) at the 75:47 mark.
  • In the final 6:20 of regulation, Wentworth had three corner kicks and nearly converted one in the 85th minute, however, the bid was high.
  • The Leopards had a chance in the 97th minute to win the game when they were awarded their seventh corner kick of the contest. Off the service, a shot attempt went wide of the mark, giving Emmanuel a goal kick. Just over a minute later, Shealy found Soucy who put home the golden goal at 97:43.
  • West made for saves for the Leopards.

THE SERIES:

  • Today marked the seventh all-time meeting between the two teams with Wentworth holding a 4-2-1 advantage. The Saints have claimed the last two meetings.

NEXT UP:

  • Wentworth spends a weekend away from campus, playing at Norwich on Saturday and Colby-Sawyer on Sunday.
