HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • Dauphin netted his first of the night at the 21:39 mark when he scored 45 seconds after taking a corner kick. Senior Eddie Smith (San Luis Obispo, Calif.) took possession of the corner and found Dauphin, who fired a laser from 25 yards out.
  • At 25:41, Dauphin put the Leopards ahead, 2-0, as he gained possession off a deflection and put home a shot from the top of the box. The Black & Gold nearly went up 3-0 in the 37th minute when Wentworth was awarded a penalty kick. However, senior Jomar Martins' (Braintree, Mass.) attempt was saved.
  • With 5:47 left in the half, MIT cut the lead to 2-1 as senior Peter Novoa (Omaha, Neb.) fired home a shot to the far corner.
  • Dauphin added his fifth point of the night when he assisted on sophomore Jacob Dukeshire's (Nashua, N.H.) goal at 65:59. Dauphin served a corner towards the box where Dukeshire headed it home.
  • The Engineers pulled back within one at 75:17 when junior Nick Ciepley (Carlsbad, Calif.) sent a pass from the opposite side of the field to graduate student Loukas Carayannopoulos (Westfield, N.J.), who found the far corner of the net.
  • MIT had possession late, however, an offsides call gave the ball back to Wentworth to let time expire.

THE SERIES:

  • Tonight marked the 25th all-time meeting between the two programs. Wentworth won for the first time in the last four meetings and the Engineers lead, 16-7-2.
