HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • Wentworth carried play in the opening portion of the contest, including having three shot attempts in a span of nearly three minutes, with all three going on net. Senior TJ Prouty (Glendora, Calif.) gave the Leopards a 1-0 lead with his fourth goal of the season, coming at 34:48. A mis-clear by Gordon gave Prouty possession along the left side where he deflected the ball inside the left post.
  • After a shot by senior Nathan Gosselin (Hudson, N.H.) was saved by senior Brody Veleber (Coatesville, Pa.), the Fighting Scots put a pair of shots on frame, both of which were saved by sophomore Noah Lawless (Whitefish Bay, Wisc.). In the 44th minute, Gordon freshman Noah Martin (Whitehouse Station, N.J.) had a shot attempt go high, keeping the Black & Gold with a 1-0 lead at the break.
  • Gordon got the equalizer early in the second half when senior Jarvin Rameriz (Milton, Ga.) scored. A foul on Wentworth led to a free kick near the lower left corner, approximately 20 yards out. Ramirez tucked the free kick inside the top right corner.
  • In the 70th minute, senior Paolo Ruggieri (Canton, Mass.) had a shot from in front, which was denied on a diving save attempt by Veleber to keep the score tied.
  • Ramirez put a shot on net in the 82nd minute, which was saved by senior Robbie West (Weymouth, Mass.) and, off a corner kick, the Fighting Scots' shot attempt went high. Prouty saw his attempt at a game winner go wide in the 89th minute, sending the game into overtime.
  • Gosselin took a direct kick from 23 yards out in the 94th minute, which looked like it was headed towards the upper middle of the net but hit the crossbar. With 27 seconds left, senior Jomar Martins (Braintree, Mass.) put a header wide, sending the game into a second overtime.
  • Junior Julius Swaim (Bedford, Mass.) had an early shot for the hosts and the teams traded corner kicks, with Rameriz taking one in the 104th minute and Wentworth senior John Dauphin (Yorba Linda, Calif.) taking one less than a minute later.
  • In the 108th minute, Ramirez took the Fighting Scots' seventh corner of the contest, where he sent the ball towards the box and Ngolomingi scored the golden goal at 107:18.

THE SERIES:

  • Today marked the 32nd all-time meeting between the two teams, with Gordon holding a 21-9-2 series advantage. This was the seventh overtime game in the series. The Fighting Scots are 4-1-2 in those contests.
