BOSTON, Mass. – Led by a balanced attack, the Wentworth Institute of Technology men's volleyball team (20-6, 12-0 GNAC) swept the Dean Bulldogs (3-17, 0-12 GNAC) in Tansey Gymnasium Tuesday night, locking themselves in to the number-one seed in the Great Northeast Athletic Conference standings. The win also pushed the Black & Gold's win streak to 18 matches.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • Wentworth set out to a 4-0 lead in the first set with kills coming from freshman Mason Andrade (North Kingstown, R.I.) and sophomore Nick Cebula (West Springfield, Mass.). The hosts then extended their lead to 11-1 with two service aces from Andrade and two kills from freshman Gabe Tucker (East Greenbush, N.Y.). Two kills from freshman Benjamin Moughon (Mercer Island, Wash.) pushed the lead to 13-4 before a kill from sophomore Alek Reymond (Chittenango, N.Y.) extended the lead to 16-5. Four service aces from Moughon helped the hosts grab a 25-6 set win and a 1-0 match lead.
  • A kill by junior Anthony Krzykowski (Feeding Hills, Mass.) gave Wentworth a 4-1 lead to start the second set before a pair of consecutive kills from freshman Brayden Green (Lake Worth, Fla.) notched a 10-3 advantage. A group of Leopard kills led to a 14-5 lead before a service ace by Tucker and a kill by Reymond moved the lead to 20-8. Senior Tristan McDonough (Shelton, Conn.) grabbed two kills en route to a 25-15 set win for the Leopards.
  • Knotted up at three apiece to start the third set, the hosts separated themselves in an 8-3 score with two kills from Andrade and a kill from Reymond. A kill by Cebula continued the lead to 11-7 before a kill by sophomore Josh Milke (Eastampton, N.J.) marked a 15-8 advantage. Cebula notched two service aces before kills by Green, Reymond, and Andrade helped the Leopards clinch a 25-15 set win, a 3-0 match win, and the number-one seed in the GNAC standings.
