Oshman, Etter Named to AVCA All-Region Team

BOSTON, Mass. – Two Wentworth Institute of Technology men's volleyball student-athletes have been named to the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) all-region team, as announced by the association Tuesday morning. Senior right side hitter Hunter Oshman (Pennington, N.J.) and sophomore outside hitter Sam Etter (Massillon, Ohio) were named all-region for the Leopards this year.  
 
Oshman earned his second straight all-region honor, a day after being named First Team All-Great Northeast Athletic Conference. The senior has notched 260 kills across 28 matches, averaging 2.77 kills per set. Oshman also has recorded a career high in blocks with 59 and hit .310, good for fourth highest across the GNAC.  
 
Etter earned his first all-region nod a day after earning his first all-conference honor. He broke previous career highs in nearly every statistical category, striking 245 kills across 27 matches. Etter also notched a career-high hitting percentage of .296, good for the fifth highest in the GNAC, and added 110 digs. 
 
With the all-region selections, the duo will appear on the AVCA All-America ballot. All-America selections will be announced on Monday, April 24. 
 
Winners of the GNAC for the second straight season, Wentworth (26-7) competes in the first round of the NCAA Tournament Friday, April 21, as they are travel to Hoboken, N.J. to take on St. John Fisher. This marks the third consecutive season the Leopards have earned a spot in the NCAA Tournament.
