Baldecchi Named Head Women's Volleyball and Assistant Men's Volleyball Coach

BOSTON, Mass. – Wentworth Institute of Technology has announced the hiring of Nick Baldecchi as its head women's volleyball and assistant men's volleyball coach.

"I'm excited to welcome Nick Baldecchi as a member of the Wentworth volleyball program," said head men's volleyball coach Evin Giglio. "During the search process, it was evident that his coaching style and philosophies would resonate with our student-athletes. I have no doubt he will have a positive impact on our programs and help sustain our success."

Baldecchi comes to the Leopards from Highland Community College (Highland, Kansas) where he was hired last summer to coordinate all aspects of a women's volleyball program that is slated to begin playing in the fall of 2023. Baldecchi was in charge of recruiting student-athletes, managing the program's budget, and creating a match schedule for the program.

Prior to arriving at Highland CC, Baldecchi worked at Lindenwood University (St. Charles, Mo.), where he was the interim assistant men's volleyball coach from October, 2021, until July, 2022, and, prior to that, was a volunteer assistant women's volleyball coach from July, 2021, until July, 2022. He was involved in many areas of both programs, including recruiting, game and practice preparation, player development, and off-season training programs. While working with the men's program, he also served as the director of volleyball operations.

In addition to his college coaching experience, Baldecchi was the Head Varsity Boys' Volleyball Coach at El Camino Real High School in Woodland Hills, Calif., from January, 2009, until May, 2010, and served as Head Junior Varsity and Assistant Varsity Boys' Volleyball Coach at the Fort Zumwalt School District from March, 2021, until October, 2021. He has also worked with the High Performance Volleyball Club in St. Louis, Mo., and Club North Volleyball in Kansas City, Mo.

A 2008 graduate of the University of San Diego with a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Baldecchi was a setter and team captain for the Toreros. Baldecchi transferred to the University of San Diego from Santa Barbara Community College where, during his career, he was a setter and serving specialist.

"Leading a volleyball team is not just about teaching skills and winning games, it's about creating a culture of trust, commitment, and hard work, where every player feels valued and supported," said Baldecchi. "As the head volleyball coach, I am honored to take on this responsibility and excited to work towards our collective success."
