Men's Tennis Opens up Spring Schedule

ORLANDO, Fla. – The Wentworth Institute of Technology men's tennis team opened its spring season with a 9-0 loss against Coast Guard in a match played at the USTA Mani Campus.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • Coast Guard took a 1-0 lead with an 8-0 win at No. 3 doubles as senior James Vuille-Kowing (Daytona Beach, Fla.) and junior Logan De Los Santos (Tulsa, Okla.) defeated senior Owen Conlon (Cataumet, Mass.) and freshman Thomas Kot (Natick, Mass.). At No. 1 doubles, Myles Decoste and junior Charles Norman (Aurora, Ohio) defeated junior Daniel Gallegos (Monterrey, Mexico) and sophomore Pranav Marwaha (Nashua, N.H.), 8-0.
  • The Bears completed the sweep with an 8-3 win at No. 2 as senior Banks Evans (Clayton, N.C.) and sophomore Paul Choi (Wheaton, Ill.) defeated freshman Eric Doraci (Natick, Mass.) and freshman Rene Rodriguez (Doral, Fla.).
  • De La Santos defeated Kot, 6-0, 6-0, at No. 5 singles before Evans clinched the match with a 6-0, 6-0 win over Marwaha. Norman was a 6-0, 6-1 winner over Rodriguez at No. 3, Choi picked up a 6-0, 6-2 win at No. 4 over Doraci, Vuille-Kowing defeated freshman James Weete (Dover, N.H.) at No. 6, 6-3, 6-1, while Decoste was a 6-3, 6-0 winner over Gallegos at No. 1.
