Ursinus Tops Men's Tennis

ORLANDO, Fla. – The Wentworth Institute of Technology men's tennis team was defeated by Ursinus, 9-0, on Monday afternoon.


HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • Ursinus took a 1-0 lead when Noan Mandel and Andrei Bogdan teamed up at No. 3 doubles to defeat senior Owen Conlon (Cataumet, Mass.) and senior Kevin Shields (East Longmeadow, Mass.), 8-2. Freshmen Eric Doraci (Natick, Mass.) and Rene Rodriguez (Doral, Fla.) were topped, 8-2, by Ethan Yu and Darby Rogers at No. 2, while junior Daniel Gallegos (Monterrey, Mexico) and sophomore Pranav Marwaha (Nashua, N.H.) were clipped, 8-5, at No. 1 by Lars Jesperen and Will Oberholtzer.
  • Singles play saw the Bears' Bogdan defeat Shields, 6-0-, 6-0, at No. 6 before Rogers' 6-1, 6-0 win over Doraci at No. 4 clinched the match.
  • Jesperen defeated Gallegos, 6-1, 6-0, at No.1, Mandel was a 6-1, 6-1 winner over freshman Thomas Kot (Natick, Mass.) at No. 5, Rodgriguez took Yu to three sets (2-6, 6-2, 8-10) at No. 3, and Will Oberholtzer was a 6-1, 6-3 winner over Marwaha at No. 2.

  • Wentworth plays an exhibition match against St. Thomas' (Fla.) developmental team Tuesday monring and has an evening match against Wittenberg at 7:00 pm.
