Men's Tennis Concludes Spring Break Trip

KISSIMMEE, Fla. – The Wentworth Institute of Technology men's tennis team wrapped up its spring break trip with a match against King's College. The Monarchs took two of the three doubles flights, en route to a 6-3 win.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • Wentworth took a 1-0 lead with an 8-6 win at No. 3 doubles as senior Owen Conlon (Cataumet, Mass.) and freshman Thomas Kot (Natick, Mass.) defeated freshman Brendan Turowski (Nescopeck, Pa.) and sophomore Jacob Nelson (Pittston, Pa.). King's evened the match with an 8-5 win at No. 2 when sophomore Patrick Pech (Litvinov, Czechia) and junior Aidan Temple (Kingston, Pa.) defeated freshman Eric Doraci (Natick, Mass.) and freshman Rene Rodriguez (Doral, Fla.). Junior Daniel Gallegos (Monterey, Mexico) and sophomore Pranav Marwaha (Nashua, N.H.) batted at No. 1, but fell, 8-7 )10-8).
  • Doraci evened the match at 2-all when he defeated Temple at No. 4 singles, 6-3, 6-1. However, Pech was a 6-3, 6-3 winner over Rodriguez to take a 3-2 lead. Turowski gave the Monarchs a 4-2 lead when he defeated Rodriguez, 6-3, 6-3, at No. 3.
  • Nelson clinched the match for King's when he defeated Kevin Shields (East Longeadow, Mass.), 6-1, 6-2, at No. 6. Gallegos picked up the leopards' third point of the day when he defeated Gregory, 6-3, 4-2 (retirement). Toussaint (Kingston, Pa.) was a 7-5, 4-6, 10-7 winner over Marwaha at No. 2.
